Life Transitions

Life is a process of constant change. Sometimes, major life transitions can throw us out of balance to the point where we lose access to some important aspects of our experience, we lose our sense of grounding and routines, or we disrupt our connections to others. Very brief, highly targeted psychotherapy can be very helpful in situations like these. The process of therapy for life transitions usually involves a combination of three strategies: (1) problem-solving what can be fixed; (2) cultivating patience and active acceptance for the things we can’t control; and (3) providing reassurance and alternative perspectives so that things that are temporary don’t seem so permanent.
