Welcome to Well Spring Counseling — the community’s oldest privately owned mental health counseling center. We are committed to providing you with the highest quality care possible. Everyone is unique. This is why we always take time to help you identify the right path to recovery — for you.
As interactive, solution-focused therapists, our treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and change long-standing behavioral issues. Using great sensitivity and understanding, our therapists help our clients find solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues. We work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve their goals.
Therapy Services We Offer
Our interactive therapy services are designed for both adults and children who are dealing with a wide range of issues. We frequently help individuals through depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, addictions, ADHD, and many other concerns.
Addiction Counseling
Recovery can require more than willpower alone. Self-care, skills, and psychotherapy change brain structure and function and release the grip of addiction. We work with you to improve problem-solving and replace your previously poor choices with constructive and rewarding behaviors.
Adolescent Counseling
Adolescent therapy incorporates a variety of methods used to help children or adolescents with their behavior, emotions, and relationships. They may be able to share their feelings and resolve problems through talking, drawing, building, and play therapy.
Anger Management
We help you gain awareness of the way you react to a perceived threat by identifying emotional reactions to severe or minor frustrations. We work with you to discover the distinction between triggers and appropriate responses. You’ll soon be able to identify and meet your own emotional needs which will decrease the likelihood of getting angry. We help you develop ways to express emotions effectively.
Anxiety Counseling
Anxiety is the body and mind’s natural reaction to unfamiliar, stressful, or dangerous situations. Before a significant event, a healthy level of uneasiness or dread can help you remain aware and alert. You’ll soon be able to differentiate between anxiety caused by choices and those caused by body chemistry. We work to build awareness of your triggers and gain control of your reactions.
The BIRRT Process
BIRRT is a technique designed to decrease or eliminate the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Currently, each therapist at Well Spring Counseling is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, which is not to be found in any other clinic in Idaho and each therapist is trained in providing BIRRT. We know of no quicker or more effective PTSD treatment technique!
Coping Skills
Humans utilize thought, emotion, or behavior to manage stressful experiences. Styles of coping differ based on the significant event and person affected. We provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you are in charge of the sessions to explore your coping skills and develop stress management techniques.
Depression Counseling
Depression is a mood disorder that lasts over two weeks and in some cases, years. We use cognitive behavioral therapy to accentuate positives and opportunities in your life. You will soon be able to tell the difference between a depression caused by a chemical imbalance or one caused by responses to events around you. You gain awareness of good things for you and see improvement in your mood and worthiness.

Divorce
Separation and divorce can be emotional and challenging for all parties. Our goal is to empower you to be kind and compassionate to yourself during this time. We will work together to help you identify and meet your emotional needs and create a plan that will allow you to be self-sufficient during this transition.
Family Conflict
Resolving family conflict can be a beneficial practice to negotiate, compromise, cooperate, manage emotions, build empathy, and to communicate kindly and assertively. We work with you and your family to address the communication styles you use with each other and foster understanding and respect.
Family Therapy
The goal of family therapy differs, depending on your family dynamics, and aims to develop and maintain a functional unit. These benefits include enhanced communication in the family unit, increased empathy, reduced conflict, and an increased understanding of healthy boundaries.
Grief
When we get stuck in grief it is frequently because we have unfinished business with the person we have lost or we don’t have the tools we need. Psychotherapy is one of the few places where it is possible to work these types of situations out or find more flexible perspectives to view the world and ourselves after our losses and acquire the understanding to meet your needs.
Individual Counseling
Individual therapy facilitates self-growth and an increase in awareness. By taking an inventory of your past physical, emotional, and mental health, we can address your concerns and guide you into developing the best course of action to help you meet your treatment goals.
Life Transitions
Life is a process of change. Transitions can throw us out of balance to the point we lose access to important aspects of our experience, we lose a sense of grounding and routines or disrupt our connections to others. Highly targeted psychotherapy can be very helpful in these situations.
Loneliness
Intimate bonds are vital to happiness. Feeling isolated can let the feeling of loneliness creep in and overtake your happiness. We offer you tools and resources to find the root of your isolation and connect with others authentically, with the goal of dissolving this heavy feeling.
Marriage & Couples Therapy
How much does your relationship mean to you? What would you do to save it? Joint therapy sessions for partners or married couples can resolve current issues, provide a check-up during a transition period or influx of stress, and solidify your relationship.

Parenting Counseling
Your parenting decisions have a tremendous impact on your child’s emotional and social development. Their belief systems are modeled by your example, and they will pick up moral values, discipline, and manners from what they see. We will help you gain the insight and tools you want to parent effectively.
Peer relationships
Peer relationships are vital to a healthy life. Empathy, ego support, intimacy, trust, self-esteem development, and communication skills are greatly influenced by the relationships you keep. We work with you and your family to communicate in ways that support healthy peer relationships and gain the tools you need to be in a happy relationship.
Play Therapy
By offering a safe space to express their free choice, they are empowered to make decisions, direct the play, and take responsibility for their choices. By encouraging their effort without any judgment, we can verbally acknowledge and validate their feelings.
Professional gratification
Workplace appreciation is the most important motivation for employees. Recognition of your value, work quality, and effort are directly related to job satisfaction. It’s our goal to show you how to take an active role in your professional gratification and find your value in the workplace.
Self-esteem
Healthy self-esteem is a precious psychological resource that correlates to good relationships, achievement, and satisfaction. We will work with you to address the emotions underlying your self-esteem. Our goal is for you to develop a healthy relationship with yourself.
Stress
We experience stress as a reaction to meet demand. With our training in stress management, we can show you healthy ways to cope. We work together to practice acceptance and self-care, gain perspective into self-sabotaging habits, and develop goals as well as how to change the perception and respond in a healthier way.
Trauma and PTSD counseling
Trauma can stem from various causes and sources. It can take an emotional toll on the individual regardless of age and impact nearly every aspect of life. Whether the traumatic event happened years ago or yesterday, we aim to help you find a way to heal and move on with life by utilizing the fastest and most effective trauma treatment in our area.
Our Process
We pride ourselves in supporting the client as the expert (on themselves) in charge during each session. Our role is to be the adept and professional assistant. We work hard to approach the situation from the client’s perspective and use their value system. We use what is important to the client for support and help.
Solution-focused therapy means that we begin with the end in mind. You tell us what the end should look like and we’ll help you get there. Our job is to help you reach those goals as quickly and efficiently as possible. We’re the only agency in the area with every clinician credentialed as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
We believe we treat trauma more effectively than anyone in the area. This is due to the unique technique that we use. It is brief, but an amazingly effective method for lowering the symptoms of post-traumatic stress. This method is called BIRRT (Brief Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy).
